With references as rich and varied as grunge, surfer chic, galactic, au naturel and hedonistic disco vibes, New York Fashion Week SS17 unleashed a Pandora’s Box of beauty looks and inspiration for fashion month. Here’s a round-up of some of the most interesting beauty details we saw. Written by Sophie Coleman.
In tribute to the American immigrant and exploration underlying OC’s Pageant of the People show, nails by Naomi Yasuda featured a stripe motif in black, yellow, red and blue – a graphic spin on American sunsets and landscapes, also referencing colors in the collection. Eyes were an interesting combination of a bold winged gel black liner, strong brows and a contrasting white shadow pigment across the brow bone.
Pops of glossy rouge eyeshadow were paired with shiny berry lips, beehive hairdos and even cat eye glasses to amplify Anna Sui’s heady mash-up of folk, Western and Victorian influences – the ultimate Americana tribute.

Eyes were the main feature of the show – liquid eyeliner encircled the eye for emphasis; dusty pink blush, nude lips and a few white brow models kept the look fresh and balanced.
It was Studio 54 with a futuristic twist: disco-bopping, asymmetric fringe bowl hair bobs, candy eye clouds of pink, purple, aqua; and bright mod nails with contrasting rock designs.
