Rihanna stirred up quite the proverbial PFW storm, unveiling the SS17 FENTY PUMA by Rihanna collection in the luxurious salons of the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild. Inspired by 18th century France, Marie Antoniette and the Versailles palace; the collection was equal parts naughty courtess meets edgy urbanite.
Rihanna was the Creative Director for this collaboration with sportswear giant PUMA, interpreting traditional athletic wear – tracksuits, robes, polos and tennis dresses – with royal French aplomb. Delicate pastel hues, ruffles, bows, ties, florals, luxe chiffon and satin materials all featured. “Mixing athletic wear with regal touches was a challenge and I hope everyone loves the results,” said Rihanna.
There were also slingback sneaker heels, Bow sneakers, pearl chokers and a Bow Bag on the accessories and footwear front, all fusing the hi-low, royal-street dualities.
Beauty wise: flushed pink cheeks, voluminous fluttery eyelashes and shiny pastel lips adorned with pearl rings using Sephora make-up provided a fresh accompaniment to the regal sportswear line, as well as encrusted nail designs by Young Nails. Hair was slicked back using Oribe under satin bandanas, embroidered caps, visors and lace masks. Written by Sophie Coleman.
